Gasparee caves

Enjoy the pleasure of cruising the waters off the North Western peninsula of Trinidad. Revel in the panoramic view of our lush green mountains, and experience the thrill of tropical birds of flight. On arrival at Pt. Baleine, a former whaling station, the tour guide will take you to the cave lodge and the magnificent limestone cave system of the “Big Cave”. Many years of rainfall may have combined with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to form a weak carbonic acid, which slowly dissolved the limestone rocks of Gasparee. This resulted in the formation of a series of underground passages and caves that today form the Gasparee caves. From there we travel by boat across to Scotland bay or Monos Island for sea-bathing and relaxation.
